A Tree-riffic change for Festive Fingerprints…🌳
It’s funny, isn’t it? How quickly the time goes?
I remember when I started Festive Fingerprints back in 2019, how excited I was to be able to share our family tradition of fingerprinted cards with (what I had assumed would be!) family, friends, and maybe a few lovely strangers on the internet.
But here we are, 2 and some years and tens of thousands of cards later!
Which got me thinking (usually at 5am on my milking days 🤪), what exactly did I want Festive Fingerprints to be when I started those few years ago…?
I wanted it to recapture the joy and magic of letter writing, to provide a fun and creative outlet for families, give the gift of a treasured keepsake for the receiver, and I think it’s safe to say I’ve achieved those things. But, I also wanted to make sure that me and my little business were thinking about the bigger picture, about the ways that we can make a positive impact not just to the families who send and receive my cards, but also this little planet that we call home.
And now, the time is right to make myself more accountable on that front. Last Christmas showed me that perhaps my little business isn’t quite so ‘little’ anymore, and 20,000 Christmas cards, made, packed and sent off to my wonderful customers are undoubtedly going to have an impact on the environment, even if I do use recyclable materials and packaging. I mean, paper doesn’t grow on trees, does it! 😉❤️🌳
So that brings me to my new initiative with Ecologi, one that will help me to replace some of the trees that are used to make the paper that Festive Fingerprints’ cards are printed on, and in the process help to reduce the world’s CO2 emissions. So from today I will be planting a tree for each and every order, and we will all be able to watch our Festive Fingerprint forest grow together by checking out the badge in the footer of my website. You won’t need to do anything different, simply order as usual and I will do the rest.
So there we have it! I’m really looking forward to reducing my carbon Fingerprint 😉, and contributing to Ecologi’s goal of planting billions of trees each year! Every idea and initiative starts with one small step, and this is mine 😊.
